    Thanks for this photo of Smithy Lane, my ancestors lived here in the 1861 census at number 11 Smithy Lane, my 3x gt-grandfather was a bootmaker(Cordwainer), his sons were: wine cooper and a carter. I was thrilled to see the building of the Blacksmith to know it stod there when my ancestors were around.

    the blacksmiths shop was hundreds of years old,the brown cow was my local
    (anyone remember kitty the barmaid)
    they knocked them all down about 1967
    getting ready for the flyover,and what did they put there..nothing,i realy missed the "herb shop"
